I spoke with Dr. Heerdt last night on the phone and then scheduled with her office this morning. I'm on the books for surgery on Wednesday, August 22. On Tuesday, Aug 21, I need to go in for the pre-surgery testing (EKG and such). So it'll be a little bit of a race perhaps, but we'll be home the weekend prior to Jacqueline starting school. We'll be working on getting back to "normal" and school starting, etc. We'll be starting to carry on with life and not waiting for this.
So Sloan-Kettering. Well, the hospital is ranked #2 for cancer care nationally by US News and World Report. When I asked about scheduling at Sloan, Dr. Heerdt asked if I wanted to do it there since we lived far away. So I told her that we felt we were so close to NY that we would be foolish not to go to Sloan. Of course she agreed adding that she wouldn't want to work anywhere else. It's scheduled. The details with the kids need to get worked out... it'll come together over the next few days.
I took an ativan for the first time in more than a month last night...the anxiety was percolating yesterday. Too many loose ends I guess. Hopefully this will start to get things orderly and under some kind of control. A plan at least.
