Follow Up Oncology
I'm already back from my appointment with Dr. Schauer. Have I mentioned that I absolutely adore him and Donna, Iris and Carmen? I did the usual blood pressure, blood draw and weight (my I have cancer I can eat ice-cream whenever I want diet isn't really working for me anymore) before I went to talk to the doctor. Donna was happy to see me, I showed her my scar and told her about the CLEAN report. She was genuinely happy. I miss her. They all like my "hairstyle". Dr. Schauer, too, was so pleased to read the report and hear that I was walking each morning (well, most), had done yoga last week, he encourages me to do as much exercise as I can without overdoing it. He told me that Dr. Heerdt had requested additional samples to run through the lab at Sloan to test for the Estrogen positive receptors and determine whether tamoxafen is a worthy treatment following radiation. He also agreed with me about the radiation; not going to the super-clavical area. He told me that would increase the risks of lymphedema. I was so glad to have a conversation with a doctor who respected my intelligence and my opinion about my care. And that makes Dr. Schauer AWESOME.
