Robin Roberts, recently finished 8 treatments of Chemo for Breast Cancer, was on with Isaac Mizrahi from fashion week. (Some of you have heard me mention that some day Isaac will be one of my best gay-man friends.) This morning he had his runway show in NYC and Robin was one of his models. She did the walk without her wig. She was strikingly beautiful and wearing a stunning gown. Afterward she spoke to walking as she is and embracing our challenges, facing them and rising to new heights because of them. And my eyes filled with tears and I got so choked up and proud of her. I just wanted to give her a hug and get a hug back.
When they post the video, I'll link to it. Check back later.

I got emotional also. Then, the mother in me kicked in. She pricked her finger on the a thorn and I wanted to yell for her to get the Neosporin.....
You both are fabulous examples of wonderful women.
Love you,
Mommy
jenn --
thank you for this post. robin roberts put it all in perspective, at least for me, to fully grasp what you have faced, gone through, not over, not under, not around, but through, and arrived on the other side more enhanced for the experience.
you, jenn-o-centric, are a lesson and an inspiration to me. you are the poster child for this quote, often attributed to germany's shakespeare, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
may your dreams become manifest this year, jenn.
with love and always, gratitude,
cherie
