Roll with it

When the caller ID said UCONN Health Center I knew what was coming. Lynn, the technician I see each day, was on the phone calling to let me know that the equipment was down and that they decided to cancel my appointment today. They do not expect to have it up and running in time but I did ask that she call me if they get it working. Pooh.

Maybe it's better that I have the day off. I can get the groceries, relax, get a little more healthy from this lingering cold and rest my arm. My left hand has been swelling the last couple days. My skin is trying to heal from radiation, this cold is dragging out well beyond "normal" and I'm tired. I'm just tired. The radiation can effect whatever lymphatic systems are still intact in my shoulder and chest area and since those systems are working overtime to make up for what I lost, they are tired. It seems to make sense. I believe it's all connected.

I can't say that I'm not disappointed to not complete the treatments this week, but I decided to roll with it as best I can. No sense getting my knickers in a knot over it. I still have plenty to be thankful for tomorrow and Friday I can still go out to breakfast with my family to celebrate coming to the end of treatments. Monday will be the bonus round and another excuse for cheer. I will go to physical therapy next Thursday for probably my last visit and also get an ultra-sound done on my ovaries to check out the cysts that they saw when I had all those initial cat-scans, etc., make sure all is well and move on. It'll be done in November. Over the course of December we can all wind down before we kick off 2008. And what about planning that after party?
