On Thursday I drove to NYC. I think a lot of people who identify as New Yorkers on some level can relate. I love NY. I am not afraid of driving there, parking there, walking around. I love the energy. I really do. I don't love it for my everyday life. But I have a real affinity for NYC. It was nice to walk around and people watch, window shop and feel the city's energy.
I was there yesterday for my follow up MRI. It's been 6 months since my surgery to remove the remains of the lump. I don't have the results and I don't see my surgeon until April. I expect call or hear from the office regarding the test results. Until yesterday I was firmly rooted in "It's going to confirm that all is well". The anxiety of the day put me on shakier ground, try as I did to deny it. I thought I could go alone. My nerves got the better of me thought and I got lost getting to the ferry as planned. Instead I drove to the city and went in early. They were able to do the test early as another patient was late. My folks met me there and we had a NY kind of lunch in an Irish Pub called P.J. Clarkes on 55th and 3rd. We had a well-deserved beer, too.
It's already been 6 months. And I really do love NY and think that my treatments being there fill me with a certain confidence. The technologists at the MRI office for Sloan were so kind. There's a level of professionalism that really shows. It seems that they hire the best and the best want to work there. You might think that a 200+ mile round trip for an MRI is a bit much, but I am happy to keep my care in the able hands at Sloan-Kettering. Now I can look forward to seeing Dr. H and getting the good results.

sometimes ya just gotta sing:
I like New York in June,
How about you?
I like a Gershwin tune,
How about you?
I love a fireside
When a storm is due.
I like potato chips, moonlights
And motor trips,
How about you?
I'm mad about good books,
Can't get my fill,
And Franklin Roosevelt's looks
Gives me a thrill.
Holding hands in the movie show
When all the lights are low,
May not be new,
But I like it,
How about you?
I love to dream of fame,
Maybe I'll shine,
I'd like to see your name
Right beside mine.
I can see were in harmony,
Looks like we both agree,
On what to do
And I like it,
How about you?
it is heartwarming to read of your excitement about being in THE city embraced in the bosom [pun incontrovertibly intended] of Diana and Harry, returning to the lovin' arms of your hubby and bee-yoo-tee-ful children in a New York State of Mind.
much love,
cherie
